Which sites does Meshhound search?
Meshhound currently indexes Thingiverse, Printables, NASA 3D Resources, the NIH 3D Print Exchange, and the Smithsonian Open Access collection, with more sources being added as access is secured. The Sources section on the homepage always reflects the live list.
Is Meshhound free to use?
Yes. Searching and browsing Meshhound is free. Individual models may be free or paid depending on the creator's own terms on the source site. The price filter lets you narrow results to free-only.
Does Meshhound host the 3D model files?
No. Meshhound is a meta-search index, not a file host. Every result links back to the original creator's page on the source site, and downloads always happen there.
Why do some results show "on N sites"?
Creators often post the same design to more than one site. Meshhound recognizes those duplicates and merges them into a single result with a badge showing every site it's available on, instead of listing the same model several times over.
What file formats does Meshhound support?
The file-type filter covers real 3D model formats, including STL, 3MF, OBJ, STEP, PLY, GLB and other common mesh and CAD formats. Filter down to a specific format, or leave it open to see everything a listing offers.
How often is the index updated?
Meshhound re-crawls its sources on an ongoing basis. The homepage's "Added today" stat and the "New this week" filter reflect the live index rather than a fixed snapshot.
